business in the front, party in the back

urban-outfitters-silence-and-noise-windsor-topThis pintucked tuxedo shirt with a surprise backdrop would be the perfect topper for your holiday hostess outfit.  For your guests’ sake, however, I’d probably style it with a pair of pants.

flor-holideer-rugI want this Flor rug and the tableaux behind it,  arranged perfectly askew in my entryway before Christmas.  That’s not asking for too much, right?

frisky business

Monday, December 15th, 2008

happy-socksAs a child of the 1970s and ’80s, my feet spent serious time on shag carpeting (the mold! the dust! the horror!), an experience against which my toes still revolt.  As an adult, I have made a point to shag less, hardwood more–and socks make hard floors so much more fun.  It’s Risky Business every night in my house, without the Princeton and prostitutes.

If socks make me happy, then these blow my mind:  dotted, patched, argyled and striped, Happy Socks positively twinkle on your toes.  And because happiness is meant to be shared, Misosouper, Happy Socks, and Joel Goodson want to dress up your tightie whities.  Visit Happy Socks’ site and tell us which pair makes you happy in ten words or less (entries over ten words will be disqualified, so choose your words carefully), and we’ll randomly select a winner to receive a gift certificate for four pairs of socks.

Kymberly, poet extraordinaire and winner of the Ten Bills giveaway, was so happy that her e-mail positively exploded with exclamation points.  We want to make you (and your feet) feel the same way.

the fine print:

Comments will be closed and entries will not be accepted after 11:59 pm on Saturday, December 20, 2008.  The winner will be selected on Sunday, December 21, 2008, and notified by e-mail.  Results of the giveaway will be announced on Sunday, December 21, 2008.  Multiple entries will not be accepted.  Misosouper, a shopping blog reserves the right to disqualify entries that are incomplete, or considered spam.

who cares? well, we do.

we-careTo finish off misosouper’s first annual *free week* (hope you liked–and noticed–that everything posted this week is gratefully gratis), allow me to direct your attention toward We-Care.com.  Instead of checking off your holiday shopping list through a cash-back or affiliate program, consider clicking through We-Care.com instead; with every purchase you make at over 700 merchants, like my faves Zappos, Uncommon Goods, Amazon, Target, Wrapables, Yoox, and Gap (admit it:  you’re buying from them anyway), you’ll donate a portion of what you spend to a cause of your choice.  To simplify the experience even more, lazy bones like me can download an IE or Firefox plug-in that automatically donates when you shop at these stores.  If you’d like to donate your funds through Team Misosouper!, which supports NAMI (the National Alliance on Mental Illness), click through my badge (located at left, and in the meta section of the sidebar), or grab your own for your website.

Now that you’re primed to do for someone else, let me and Ten Bills do for you:  don’t forget to enter our t-shirt giveaway, which closes tomorrow night @11:59 pm EST.
