black pearl girls
If a woman wears black pearls, then I usually love her style. Black pearl girls are usually dramatic dressers, who know tradition but willingly subvert it. Their clothes usually have an air of the Victorian, the Goth; and it follows that they have a scarab or a snake somewhere on their person. They like heels, but cagey, tottering ones; and jeans, but tight, dark ones. They’re not afraid to mix metals, wearing gold, silver, and even brass and pewter jangling together as one. Their hair is ridiculously long, or ridiculously short.
These black pearl studs are a good place to start. They are dark, but iridescently so, and can appear violet, indigo, or even deep peacock green in the right light. If diamonds aren’t her thing (and dudes, take note: fewer women like diamonds than you think), we’d like to help you out: score a pair of 7-8mm freshwater black pearl earrings from the lovely Museum Way Pearls by leaving a comment on this post, explaining whether you (or your beloved) are a black pearl girl or a white pearl girl, and why. One lucky winner will be selected at random.
the fine print:
Comments will be closed and entries will not be accepted after 11:59 pm EST on Saturday, January 31, 2009. The winner will be selected on Sunday, February 2, 2009, and notified by e-mail. Results of the giveaway will be announced on Monday, February 3, 2009. Multiple entries will not be accepted, and previous giveaway winners are not eligible. i’m totally a black pearl girl
they’re more edgy and um, not boring, than white pearls. white pearls are sooo J Crew LOL
January 26th, 2009 at 10:49 am
Teehee…and not the good J Crew, circa ‘08; more like the chino J Crew, circa ‘94.

I am most definitely a black pearl girl…although not in any way resembling your definition above…actually I don’t think there’s a single similarity, but that is neither here nor there. I have always disliked white pearls…not sure why other than I just don’t like their look or the “look” that tends to accompany them (think breakfast at tiffany’s – elegant I suppose but not really something I’d have any desire to try). I do, however, absolutely adore these black pearls. They are GORGEOUS and definitely my style (if anyone could say I even HAVE style…more a mish-mosh of whatever I like and think looks good). I really, REALLY, hope I win!!!!
January 26th, 2009 at 7:30 pm
I’m a white pearl girl. I think they’re clean and classic. A simple statement. I love the look of the black pearls and just the thought of the black sand beaches from which they come. Makes you just want to get away for a minute. Let me try the black pearls and I’ll see if Calgon takes me away!
January 27th, 2009 at 10:28 am
even though i’m from connecticut (a decidedly white pearl state), i’m a black pearl girl! they seem so much more exotic and almost dangerous.
January 27th, 2009 at 10:36 am
Most of the time I’m a black pearl woman, but sometimes I’m a one-black-pearl-one-white-pearl-earring woman! Always keep ‘em guessing.
Thanks for hosting a terrific giveaway!
January 27th, 2009 at 2:41 pm
Wow…these ARE really beautiful. I would LOVE to win these. Thanks for a great giveaway
January 27th, 2009 at 3:49 pm
black pearls all the way for me. Just love the way that the look. More interesting to the eye!
January 27th, 2009 at 4:15 pm
I have actually never liked the white pearl look, never owned any, nor wanted any. They were just too preppy for my style, but I’m starting to really want black pearls because I love continuously finding beauty in darker things.
January 27th, 2009 at 9:42 pm
I’m a black-pearl girl. I used to be a white-pearl girl, but I’m far too pale and have resolved this year to surround myself with color.
I’m pretty durned sure that Pearl in Hawthorne’s THE SCARLET LETTER was also a black-pearl girl. As long as I’m festooning myself with color, I may as well add a scarlet A as well.
Generous giveaway. Thanks!

I’m a definite black pearl girl. I’ve always thought of white pearls as my grandmother’s kind of thing. I’m more of a funky metals and gems, trinkets and chains, charms and hammered silver kind of gal. Mix them all together and it works for me.
January 28th, 2009 at 12:24 am
Definitely a black pearl girl. Love any chance to take a classic and turn it on it’s ear. No pun intended.
January 28th, 2009 at 1:22 am
I am a black pearl girl, although I’ll wear the white ones with a sense of irony. I have a little bit of the goth, and a whole lot of the romantic in my personality; I like to float along in long velvet skirts, and wear my hair down to my waist. Plus, you know,I like the first “Pirates of the Caribbean” movie the best (i.e. “The Curse of the Black Pearl”).
January 28th, 2009 at 9:00 am
I’m most definitely a black pearl girl…I have always loved the look of the black pearl and have always wanted a pair of these earrings. Please oh please count me in. My daughters have been telling me (ever since I pierced their ears) that I need to start wearing earrings again.
January 28th, 2009 at 11:30 am
Although I like white pearls, I have been coveting black pearls for a long time. There is something about them that screams I am an individual, and I think hey are striking when worn against he bare skin.
January 28th, 2009 at 1:33 pm
Oooh. I love black pearls. It’s my birthday today, so I’m taking that as a sign that I’ll get lucky and win these!

January 28th, 2009 at 3:04 pm
I am a mix of both, but I lean toward being a black pearl type of gal. They are just a bit more daring than white – which usually describes me to a ‘t’.
January 28th, 2009 at 3:50 pm
Black pearls are caviar, late nights, crushed velvet, burgandy wines and deep kisses. White pearls are daytime, crossed ankles, chardonnay with the girls, tea sandwiches, and croquet.
Love them both!!!
January 28th, 2009 at 5:07 pm
Well, I guess from reading the discription above, I must be a black pearl girl. I fit into every single one except I don’t have a snake of anykind. But, I have and do everything else…In fact I have a huge damgling gold bracelt that I wear with my wide silver cuff, and love to have my black leather id bracelet, with the beads hanging down…chiming away on the SS as I move my hand. I have a 10mm wide gold wedding band, and then a 12mm wide SS band on the other hand…and my head was shaved not long ago. I also helped pick out a black pearl engagement ring for my BFF, she loves it! LOL, I am a known as bit of a hippie chick more then goth, but, love my old victorian reproduction pins that I pin on my leather coat. And I probably own more turquoise then a person should. Oh, and I am wild about Marquisette jewelry. And I probably spelled that wrong.
January 28th, 2009 at 5:27 pm
This would be a great surprise for my wife as she is always thinking of everyone else in our family.
January 28th, 2009 at 5:38 pm
I am a black pearl girl. Because I think they are much prettier.
January 28th, 2009 at 6:27 pm
I think it depends on the situation, but I do love black pearls a little bit more than white. I find them to be more sultry and sexy.
January 28th, 2009 at 6:56 pm
i like the black pearl earring i didnt know they had them. thanks fr the giveaway
January 28th, 2009 at 7:06 pm
I am a black pearl girl. I just think they are more unique and they look more expensive too.
January 28th, 2009 at 7:27 pm
Black pearl girl although nothing like you described. I hate heals and rarely get dressed up. I find white pearls too prissy and dressy, black pearls are more curious.
January 28th, 2009 at 7:43 pm
I am a white pearl girl, but my best friend is definitely a black pearl girl. She is always “this close” to being proper and preppy but then adds in something unexpected and funky. She would love these and I would love to win them for her!
January 28th, 2009 at 8:08 pm
Black pearls, all the way. They add some mystery and are absolutely versatile.
January 28th, 2009 at 8:30 pm
i’m a pearl earring girl…i wear white because i received them as a gift. black pearls, however, are way more my style. they’re more modern and yet playful for a relaxed look—i’m a mom and a chiropractor so i’d love a look that helps me easily wear my 2 hats!

I love black pearls. They look so elegant & make me feel special.
January 29th, 2009 at 3:07 am
I am definitely a black pearl girl, you can check out my style at my blog, but I tend to be a little more rugged, a little less perfected… some may say, a little grungy? Either way, I do not dress in a way that warrants white pearls, as I see those as belonging to more prim and proper young ladies. I definitely do not hate against those who wear white pearls, in fact I am best friends with some of those girls! But I myself am less, how should I say it, put together(?) than my white-pearl friends. I would love to own these black pearls you are giving away!

I grew up always wearing white pearls in all lengths and combinations. After all, I wore my fair isle sweaters and argyle socks with pride. But, I like things a little edgier now and I love black pearls. Its taking a classic item and making it darker, moodier and more mysterious.
Great prize, by the way!
January 29th, 2009 at 12:09 pm
I am a black pearl girl, do my own thing and have short short hair
January 29th, 2009 at 12:43 pm
Hhhhhmmm what am I ? I guess it depends on the day : ) I would say I am a mix of both. I feel crazy, spunky, funky some days (Black pearl) and calm, shy, and soul-full other days (white pearl). Would love to win!!
January 29th, 2009 at 2:39 pm
My daughter wears pearls all the time but she has never had black pearls. I think she would love them. She is a new lawyer and she wears pearls with her suits. This would be a nice change

I love any color and any kind of pearl — one of nature’s incredible miracles — true pure beauty. They are absolutely beautiful. I have never have owned a real one. Congrats in advance to the lucky winner of these jewels!
January 29th, 2009 at 10:31 pm
I’m a black and white pearl girl. It just depends on how I’m wearing my hair. I’m a brunette and black pearls will get lost in the darkness when my hair is down. So, I’m an equal opportunity pearlonista. Its all good
January 29th, 2009 at 11:29 pm
these are so lovely! I am a white pearl girl I think however I jsut realy love any pearl! My wedding ring is a pearl and I love it! I get so many compliments on it!

I love the black pearls. The black are so much edgier than the traditional white. I am amazed that clams made this black beauties.
January 30th, 2009 at 1:50 pm
I think I’m a black-pearl girl. Black pearls are still classy, but a little more interesting and edgy. I like to think that I’m that way too!
January 30th, 2009 at 2:28 pm
I love pearls in any color-white, black or pink.
January 30th, 2009 at 2:46 pm
I love pearls of all colors, but my favorite ring of all time was a beautiful black pearl in a simple gold setting. I cried when the pearl became detached and was lost! Black pearls do set one apart, and are always conversation-starters. Yes, I’m a black pearl girl!

These are so classic. Thanks for a spectacular giveaway!
January 30th, 2009 at 5:15 pm
Based on the description, Im probably a mix of both.
I love black pearls, much more than white ones. Black just has more of
an edge. Like your not afraid to truly be who you are, and that you don’t care what people think.. Im still working on that last one though.
:]

I guess I am a white pearl girl but only because that is what the family heirlum is.
January 30th, 2009 at 6:24 pm
I am most certainly a Black Pearl Girl. I dress very differently than most moms. I believe sweatpants and crocs should never be worn in public and I love to make a statement!
January 30th, 2009 at 7:54 pm
black pearls for sure, i think they more unique and a better match for most outfits, plus the color is prettier in my opinion!
January 30th, 2009 at 11:08 pm
I am a black pearl girl because I have never done anything traditional, including my rockabilly wedding that i am having in a bowling alley right on the lanes (read about it on my blog). If I win I will give these to my maid of honor because she deserves to get noticed

The reason I love black pearls, is kind of different. My husband and I sat under the starts one night and we made a promise to each other and for our family. That we would never stop striving for the best and reaching for the stars, never settle for mediocer. And everytime I see a black perl it reminds me of that beautiful clear sky and to always strive for the best. Thanks
Oh and I love to have a flair in my style.

I’m definitely a black pearl girl. I love things with a little bit of edge. Things that stand out and are a tiny bit bad-ass.
January 31st, 2009 at 10:27 am
I am a black pearls girl. Not that I ever had any, black or white, but black ones are more chic. I see myself wearing them more than white.

I would take black pearls over white, if I was given the option.. I’m normally not presented with fine jewelery but hypothetically speaking here. Black pearls are so much more intriguing.. they are less old lady than how I imagine strings of white pearl owners
Thanks for the entry!
