inkbloom giveaway: DIY sci-fi

inkbloom-printable-fabric-valentines-day-lovey-design-inkblocksIn a world of either artisan-designed, hand-produced fabric or Crayola-bright commercial bolts from JoAnn’s, there arrives an amazing new option: self-printable, customized fabric from a company called Inkbloom.

It’s like DIY sci-fi: using your home inkjet and loomtack, Inkbloom’s patent-pending magical sticky material that makes fabric behave like a piece of paper, you can create lush, graphic prints for personal or limited commercial use.

Inkbloom offers downloadable patterns (called inkblocks), whose colors are easily modified through Photoshop or PS Elements.  You can even add bits of text to your designs.  And Inkbloom just introduced inkbits, which are exclusive designs for creating tags, cards, and labels that coordinate with your fabric.  Imagine the possibilities for entertaining, gifting, and branding:  party favor bags, pillows, jewelry pouches, and company cards, all in your own perfect hexadecimalized RGB color code.

Crazy?  I KNOW.  But so easy that even a dolt like me could do it.

Inkbloom and Misosouper will let one lucky reader exercise her creative muscle:  to win our random drawing for a package that includes Loomtack fabric stabilizer, plain white base fabric, and Inkbloom’s brand-new lovey Valentine design set, leave a comment on this post, telling us 1) what you plan on making for your sweetie for Valentine’s Day; or 2) what text you’d print on your Valentine’s design.  (More inspiration available in this gallery.) For extra entries, you can tweet, blog, and/or Facebook this contest, then link to those posts here.  If you do all of the above, you will earn four entries.  Be sure to read the fine print, and good luck!

the fine print:

I know everyone is saying they would like to make a pillowcase, but I think I want to try a small baby blanket for my 10 month old son. Great Giveaway. Thank you for the chance!

Maybe I would print “meow” on the fabric, since my boyfriend refers to me as a cat on occasion.

I plan on making my husband personalized tags for his luggage for Valentine’s Day this year. I’d like to print his first and last name, along with some neat design work, as he is a graphic designer. This way, when he travels, he has something fun and creative to look at to remind him of home!

I think that I this idea is the best idea in the craft world for a long time. So unique and the possibilities are endless. I don’t have a sweetheart this valentines day so I think I would make a dish towel for my mother. And I think that I would say, you are loved. Then she will always think about me! ambrerose@aol.com

Though we’re not big into Valentine’s Day, I’m planning on going out for Indian food with my husband (our favorite) and giving him a handmade card, maybe with some sexy coupons inside. I’d love to package it in a pouch made with these fabrics.

I might put “1-4-3″ on it, which is a code for I Love You (1, for I, 4 for LOVE, and 3 for YOU”

  16. AngieHandmade Says:

What fun! I might use mine to make some lavender sachets, or maybe a tote bag.
