Aloha from Hawaii! I’ve just spent a week off the grid on Maui, and have one more week of vacation left on Oahu. I should really turn the computer off, but the baby is napping and I find myself browsing for updates to my beach wardrobe…
Pompoms, lace embroidery, AND pintucks? Some might say overkill on the embellishments. I say, let’s do this. If you’re looking for me at the beach this summer, I’ll be the extra pretty one in the tunic.
Maybe it’s because it’s called the Luau. Maybe it’s the jeans that just scream “cute guy.” Maybe it’s the hint of the beach, right after sunset. Whatever it is, this photograph makes me want to immediately purchase this rechargeable lamp and take a nighttime stroll on the sand. With that guy.
We’re still at the beach, and I’m still lugging my awesomely indestructible LL Bean Boat Tote whereever we go. (Seriously, that thing is a beast; we spilled soda in it, then dredged the bag in sand like it was being prepped for a fish fry. Got back up to the room, and it all shook and wiped right out, no worse for the wear.)
But yesterday, I noticed a woman carrying this curiously Croc-like tote that looked like a great backup. Of course, I ran over and peppered her with questions; turns out that the bag weighs absolutely nothing, and is molded from a synthetic material conducive to blasting with a hose. And according to the website, the Ladybug tote can carry up to 80 lbs without sagging. By my calculations, that’s both a kid and a six-pack.
Also, when lounging on the beach, one needs a cheap, virtually indestructible, waterproof watch.
Bonus points if you buy it in neon.
