Many moons ago, as a student living in Paris, I bought a deck of naked man cards–as in full frontal King of Hearts–at a tacky touriste shop. Throughout my 20s, one of my favorite parlor tricks was to propose that we play poker, then deal Bruno, Didier, and Franck to the unsuspecting crowd.

My friends are all on to this trick, so for our annual New Year’s card game, I have to move on. These Bicycle Tragic Royalty cards, with their ridiculous faces and black-lit colors, illustrate that I’ve grown up–but not by much.

I found this wicker dog basket for a friend from Chicago that was on the hunt for a bicycle seat for her pup. I’d buy it for myself, but my dog would tip the front of my bike over, and my cat would look like popcorn pinging around in a hopper (check out this pic to see exactly what I mean). I was so hopped up yesterday when the Violet e-mail landed in my inbox: 30% off everything in the shop with code SP309! The Violets have pretty great taste, so I was imagining a massive post filled with all the goodies with which I could fill my gift closet.

Alas. Almost everything is sold out (hence the sale? or did I just arrive too late?), but I unearthed this sweet little bicycle journal that would be perfect for writing down daily “this is what I did, this is where I went” notes, Frank O’Hara style.
