you zig, i’ll zag

Thursday, April 21st, 2011

Brilliant art direction… If it weren’t for the Cherner armchairs and the Eames stool, this photo would never have caught my eye. But now I’m convinced that I must have this crazy zigzag carpet in my life. Well played, Flor.

step it up

Monday, February 28th, 2011

Finally, a pair of shoes that matches my taste in furniture. The blond wood platforms on these ankle boots are totally fly. The grey suede’s pretty nice, too.

full house

Thursday, February 24th, 2011

Heath Ceramics has teamed up with type foundry House Industries to release a series of clay number tiles in classic mid-century fonts. I only wish I lived on the first block of my street, rather than the 1700th, because four of these beauties are going to break a leg off my piggy bank.

an elephant never forgets

Thursday, January 27th, 2011

There’s no good reason to justify spending nearly $300 on a wooden elephant for kids. Even if it was designed by Charles and Ray Eames. But it’s so doggone beautiful, I just might have to splurge. Call it a future heirloom.

hot hot heat week: for the hostess with the mostest

Wednesday, July 8th, 2009

Sure, I may be the jerk who made you wince in disgust as you fished a bug out of your glass, but hey!  You didn’t know I was planning that little trick when you accepted my invitation, did you?

Here are some proper gifts that will get you a kiss, an insect-free drink, and an invitation back to my next dinner party (assuming that you’d want to come):

eames-house-of-cardsEames House of Cards–a stacking, interlocking set that will keep me occupied when I should be cleaning the kitchen.

cabebe-shell-dishceramic-urchin-boxCabebe Shell Dish or Ceramic Urchin Box–both from Jayson Home and Garden, both gestures that will make me think of you every time I take off my jewelry for the night.

ricks-picks-whup-asp-zesty-pickled-asparagus-spearsRick’s Pick’s Whup Asp Zesty Pickled Asparagus Spears–maybe I’ll open them to share with the party.  Then again, maybe I won’t.

table-topics-original-editionTable Topics Original Edition–I thought I knew you.  But I’ve also had 3 glasses of wine.
