surf’s up

Monday, November 29th, 2010

I swear, there is nothing more fun than shopping for babies. This week’s holiday gift guide picks are all for wee ones, starting with these little surfer shoes. My nephew is just starting to walk, and I can’t wait to see him toddling around in these. How cute are those mini VW buses? Heck, I’d wear these.

back to basics

Tuesday, November 16th, 2010

Oops. I suck at gifts for dudes. I started out with the best intentions… I was thinking about tools, and then I was browsing the Home Depot and remembered we had talked about how those old-fashioned people-powered push mowers would be perfect for our little patch of grass. And all of a sudden it was, “Merry Christmas, honey! Please go mow the yard.”

stuff for dudes

Monday, November 15th, 2010

My mother-in-law called looking for Christmas gift ideas for my husband. He is notoriously tough to shop for, so I decided to spend the week combing the web for things that he might like. So let’s kick off the 2010 MisoSouper holiday gift-guides with Stuff for Dudes. Pretty much anything from Patagonia is a sure bet, and I am loving the red zippers on this rain jacket. Practical, stylish, and won’t even break the bank!

who’s your daddy, fast friday edition

Friday, June 12th, 2009

Instead of dragging out our Father’s Day gift guide into bite-sized chunks, we’ll make today a speed round.  These four gifts illustrate that if necessity is the mother of all invention, then convenience is definitely its daddy.

dwr-wall-mounted-bottle-openerA wall-mounted bottle opener, because  he deserves a dedicated beer station.

ag-merch-buddha-boardPerfect for the lazy artist, or the armchair coach:  just wet the Buddha Board’s brush in water, and scribble away.

pop-deluxe-usb-hub-manThe USB Hub Man’s four ports are definitely handy.

bunny-maxwell-pick-up-mug-and-trayThe mug fits in the tray, freeing your other hand for that beer whose top you just popped (see above).  Tomato soup and grilled cheese, or chili and a hot dog–your choice.
