all i want for christmas is a good night’s sleep

Dear Readers,

I’ve received several e-mails recently asking if I was preparing a holiday gift guide (you can read last year’s here).  In a word:  no.

Not that I don’t want to showcase lots of jaw-dropping, why-didn’t-I-think-of-that objects.  It’s just that, well, Misosouper’s whole site is a gift guide.  (And, truth be told, we are all so, so exhausted in my house that the idea of assembling and organizing a gift guide right now seems overwhelming.  There.  Full admission, people.)

But.  I still plan on posting lots of things that I–and by extension, you–would love to unwrap in December.  They just won’t be, um, wrapped up as such.  (Please excuse.  Read last sentence of above paragraph.)

I also have some BIG NEWS–your present to me–that I can’t wait to announce.  More details to come.

Love,

Anna

help us win some orbbies!

Monday, November 2nd, 2009

orlando-sentinel-orbbiesDear Readers,

Last year, I stood in an aqua taffeta dress sniffling in my wilted daisies, while another Orlando blog waltzed away with the big prize.  I won’t stand for being just a bridesmaid this year; I’m going all bridezilla on your asses for you to help me vote Misosouper best blog in Orlando.  Small potatoes, you might say.  But for us, this is big french fries; if we win, we get a big banner on the Orlando Sentinel’s site, $ from Target, and bragging rights for an entire year.

Misosouper is up for Best Overall Blog, Best Pop Culture Blog, and Best Unclassified Blog (?!), so you can vote for us daily in any or all (preferably all) of these categories.  You have to register to vote, but if you’re a fellow Orlandoan, you should be registered at the Orlando Sentinel anyway, because you’re just that kind of informed citizen.

If we win, I’ll get drunk with you at the party.  Promise.

Love,

Me

welcome to the world, penelope

Wednesday, October 21st, 2009

Our sweetbaby-is-here baby has finally arrived.

She is on the big side of preemie.

She is happy, healthy, and home, but needs lots of attention.

Thanks for being patient, and as always, awesome.

baby geared: this time around, things are gonna be different

Monday, August 10th, 2009

babies-with-hatsBack in 2005-2006 when I was pregnant with baby girl #1, I had a lot more time, but a lot less knowledge.

Translation:  I researched wipe warmers, and bought far too many 0-3 month onesies.

This time around, having 3+ years of parenthood and 1.5+ years of shopping blogdom under my rapidly expanding belt, I know better.  So here are things that I–and hopefully, by extension, you–really, really want, and might actually find useful, should you also find yourself knocked up or in need of the perfect gift for an agonizing-over-the-baby’s-cold-wipe first-time parent.  I shall call it Baby Geared, and it shall run right here for the next two weeks.

Amazing photo by freeparking.  Those hats might just be on my list.

misosouper is now featured on thefind!

Thursday, June 4th, 2009

In our continuing quest for global domination, Misosouper has become a weekly guest blogger at TheFind blog.  Which means that once a week, Misosouper’s witty banter will be featured on their site, and once a week we’ll feature one of the TheFind’s great picks.  Like a swingers’ party, but with blogs. Don’t forget to drop your keys in the bowl.

All That is Dyptique

dyptique
I’ve been a fan of Dyptique home fragrances for as long as I can remember. We are lucky enough to have a Dyptique boutique here in San Francisco making it convenient to keep my household stocked and fully fragranced. The quality of the fragrances used in the candles and room sprays is apparent. There is no synthetic overpowering artificial smell. Two of my favorites include “Baies” a blend of blackcurrant and Bulgarian rose, evoking the scent of a green riverside garden. Also luscious is “Figuier” with its a fruity fresh scent of figs which evokes a feeling of a warm afternoon on a Greek isle. The company was founded in 1961 by three students from the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris. The products are packaged in with rather plain boxes with lovely black and white lettering and elegant drawings, a hallmark of Diptyque products.

Brought to you by our friends at TheFind (have you checked them out yet?  they’re like Google Product Search on ‘roids)
