Inspired by my best friend, who just received a beautiful custom-made birthstone necklace celebrating the impending birth of her son, I’ve found a few delicate pieces that I wouldn’t mind gracing my own neckline.  (Confidential to R:  this is not a selfish, public attempt to goad you into buying me a gift.  Not at all.)

1.  Inscribed with the Socrates quote “Wisdom begins with wonder“  And with new babies, could any sentiment be closer to the truth?  2.  Symmetry in oxidization and diamonds;  3.  Hearts and swords:  you will go to battle for them;  4.  This proper Victorian will showcase your tiny photos on both sides;  5.  A stunner of a locket;  6.  Make your message secret and sweet.

I could never explain my zombie-eating-fried-chicken-in-Nordstrom’s dream to you anyway, so I’ll just  jot it down in my little book.

I know an elegant woman (the mother of one of my very best friends) whose bird scissors made the most mundane tasks–coupons?  itchy tags?–glamorous.

They may be pricey, but they’re handmade works of art you’ll keep forever.

A bookshelf, with a light that turns off when the book you were reading is laid on top.  Genius, just like the mother of your children.

(Maybe if you’re nice, she’ll hook up your side of the bed for Father’s Day.)

The only thing I love more than jewelry is a container in which to store it.
