Inspired by my best friend, who just received a beautiful custom-made birthstone necklace celebrating the impending birth of her son, I’ve found a few delicate pieces that I wouldn’t mind gracing my own neckline.  (Confidential to R:  this is not a selfish, public attempt to goad you into buying me a gift.  Not at all.)

1.  Inscribed with the Socrates quote “Wisdom begins with wonder“  And with new babies, could any sentiment be closer to the truth?  2.  Symmetry in oxidization and diamonds;  3.  Hearts and swords:  you will go to battle for them;  4.  This proper Victorian will showcase your tiny photos on both sides;  5.  A stunner of a locket;  6.  Make your message secret and sweet.

It impresses me that a necklace this dramatic rings in at a relatively reasonable price.  (Also available in single flower versions, if you can’t swing all that beaded bling.)

Hang necklaces from this mountable hooked shoe.  It will look good, I promise.

How spectacularly would this necklace set off a black bathing suit?  Not cheap, but you could get away with making it the only piece of jewelry you bring on vacation.

I’m not particularly proud of my litany of scars; they read as a topography of idiotic skateboard accidents and aggrieved cat scratches.

But on my left shin, there’s a smiling crescent where I, undeterred, scaled a vanity, then balanced on a mirror to polish a light fixture.

Needless to say, I fell.  Leg breakage ensued.

One day, I thought, this will be funny.  Or if not funny, at least ridiculously memorable.

That’s the story I’ll tell–that I was young and clean, and life seemed pliable–when you ask about my new necklace.
