from our friends at TheFind: paulowina wood table top terrariums

Friday, September 25th, 2009

modern-terrariumMiniature gardens open up a child’s world of imagination. My daughter is intrigued with fairies and loves the terrariums at her school. I was searching for some modern and cleverly designed vessels (other than a mayonnaise jar) to create our own terrarium at home. I found these table top terrariums at Anthropologie. They are made of Paulowina wood and the little wooden ball serves as a topper and the entire glass case can be removed for planting. Paulowina wood is very durable, warp resistant and it is used to make Japanese “Geta” sandals as well as surfboards. It is customary in Japan to plant one of these trees when a new baby is born or to celebrate a wedding.

Love these!  Check out more of TheFind’s expert picks, and save with coupon codes for Anthropologie from TheFind.com’s Coupon site.

botanicalls-plant-twitter-kit-think-geekAttention technogardeners:  assemble this Botanicalls DIY Plant Twitter Kit (you’ll need some tools, like a soldering iron, solder, needle-nose pliers, small snips, masking tape and a flat-head screwdriver–hey, I never said that turning your plant into a robot was easy), stick in the soil next to your plant, and listen to your plant’s feedback via Twitter.

Just be prepared when your tomato plant publicly complains that it needs a “companion” or is ready for its sammich, dammit.
