first frost

Monday, October 24th, 2011

Welcome to cold and flu season, she types, sniffling loudly and breathing so very unattractively through her mouth. Bust out the scarves, stock up on kleenex. It’s a long way ’til spring.

Here’s a quick, cheap remedy the next time you start to tire of your wardrobe: pick up an inexpensive, patterned scarf and start mixing it up. Works for me every time.

tie me up, tie me down

Sunday, July 18th, 2010

Who would have thought that tie-dye would make a fashion comeback? I live too close to Haight Street to have ever thought it possible, but it’s all the rage this summer! Fortunately there’s nothing hippie-dippy about the bright watercolors on this Ocean Scarf from French Connection. Just fresh, summery goodness.

it’s a wrap

nimli-azuri-bamboo-pashmina-shawlOne of my post-holiday traditions is to scoop up as many good deals as I can–for next year’s gifts, of course.  This offer, both in terms of value and quality, is huge:  for $10, you choose which Azuri scarf, wrap, or shawl you’d like, and the stylists at Nimli select the color.  Their selections range from cashmere to pashmina to bamboo to linen, so all kinds of climates are covered.  If the idea of mystery wardrobe adventure isn’t all that appealing, all Azuri’s goods are on sale, so you can pick exactly what you’d like, relatively guilt-free.

summer nights

tickled-pink-knits-rococo-shawlI’m going to an evening wedding in a few weeks, and because this pregnant lady won’t have her drunk coat on, I’d like a little something to wrap around my bare shoulders.  This lovely Rococo shawl will do the trick; it’s lightweight but cozy, and will be a staple I can wear (and even use as a travel or emergency baby blanket) after the little one comes.
