spring for stripes

I’m celebrating the first day of spring by adding some color to my wardrobe. And everything is better in stripes. I feel happier already.
The bustle makes the skirt rustle, the khaki shields it from wacky.
And wouldn’t it look fierce with the gladiators pictured below?
I’m a little beaten down by winter at this point, aren’t you? (And I live in Florida, which says something about either the weather this year, or my fortitude…probably both.) And while most sales are unloading their winter merch, I’d rather shop spring–cheaply. Here are my greatest hits from Urban Outfitters‘ new collection that will put spring in your step:
1. Urban Renewal Leather Chain Strap Bag, made from recycled leather jackets in UO’s Philly studios; 2. Colorblock Ruffle Dress; 3. Ecote Border Print Voile Skirt, which could be possibly the easiest summer-bbq-bottom ever (note the elastic waist); 4. Kimchi Blue Striped Sweatshirt; 5. Lark & Wolff by Steven Alan Sailor Jumper (adult onesies are my definition of a spring fling); 6. Matiko Nakia Sandal; 7. Mirror/Dash Rolled Cuff Tee (from Kim Gordon’s new line… just ignore model’s bleached legs); 8. UO Skyline Sunglasses, which perfectly capture our vintage eyewear moment; 9. Silence & Noise Fleece Motorcycle Jacket; 10. Serpentine Necklace, which was splashed all over UO’s catalog, because it goes with all of these pieces; 11. Silence & Noise Chevron Tank, which would make a fantastic outfit paired with the necklace on the left and the shoes on the right (add skinny jeans, please); 12. Jeffrey Campbell Crosshatch Platform, the actualization of fierce.
Le Train Bleu is the closet of the girl I want to be when I grow up: louche, decadent, unafraid of color, careless in the best sense of the word. Their pieces all feel showstopping, and not in the so-showstopping-they-have-eyepopping-price-tags way. And in celebration of their 5th birthday, Le Train Bleu is offering 30% off all orders through February 18 with the code “birthday.” Here’s what I’d buy:
1. Babysitter Blouse (please don’t wear this over to babysitter my child, because I’d probably steal it); 2. A Weekend In The Country Cards (did I mention Le Train Bleu also sells small tokens of affection, like this Jane-Austen-goes-Old-Maid game?); 3. Aztec Shorts, complete with amazing detachable leather ornamentation; 4. Die Brucke Painted Scarf Dress (how is this only $66?); 5. Delaunay Scarf; 6. Acid Floral Dress, which I plan on wearing at least three days a week this summer; 7. Leigh Ring; 8. Moravian Love Story Sweater; 9. Ringmaster Jacket, a topper that would be elegant over both slouchy t-shirts and a billowy dresses; 10. Shiny Skirt, whose elastic waistband makes it the comfiest summer going-out piece ever; 11. Gal Collection Strawberry Lip Balm; 12. Thousand Flowers Votive Holder, which would lovely in groups filled with both candles and flowers (but not at the same time, of course).
