About a month ago, I finally caved and bought a Kindle. And just like that, I rekindled (sorry) my love affair with fiction. My reading habit fell by the wayside with an infant in tow, but those days are behind me. Now I can’t get enough. All I want to do this summer is prop myself up on pillows, preferably gorgeous ones, lay out in the sun, and devour book after book. I’ve already knocked six off my summer reading list since Memorial Day, so I’m off to a good start. But I’ll need to plan a few more getaways sans toddler to keep up the pace.
I was sure that the maxi dress trend would disappear as fast as it exploded four or five years ago. But every summer, they keep coming back, romantic and flowy and pretty as ever. I couldn’t be more pleased.
Pompoms, lace embroidery, AND pintucks? Some might say overkill on the embellishments. I say, let’s do this. If you’re looking for me at the beach this summer, I’ll be the extra pretty one in the tunic.
My favorite thing in my kitchen is a yellow Bauer teapot that belonged to my grandmother. My mom gave it to me for my wedding, and while it wouldn’t fetch a dime on Antiques Roadshow (they’re all over eBay, and mine has a cracked lid), I love it more for its humble origins. When I read that the company was re-releasing these grill plates based on vintage designs, I got very happy. Love them.
