life’s a picnic

Tuesday, August 24th, 2010

Some people shop for Christmas decorations in January… I buy outdoor furniture in late August. In San Francisco, our summer doesn’t even start until September, so I’m going to score some bamboo plates on sale and be ready to picnic all through fall.

hot and cold

Monday, August 23rd, 2010

It’s the perfect time of year for my favorite combo: sundresses and bulky sweaters. No need to hang up this little black number when the nights get cooler. Just add some boots and bundle up.

tie me up, tie me down

Sunday, July 18th, 2010

Who would have thought that tie-dye would make a fashion comeback? I live too close to Haight Street to have ever thought it possible, but it’s all the rage this summer! Fortunately there’s nothing hippie-dippy about the bright watercolors on this Ocean Scarf from French Connection. Just fresh, summery goodness.

flip out

Thursday, July 15th, 2010

The crowd-sourced design genius of Threadless meets the ultimate summer accessory: flip flops. The result? Six covet-worthy pairs of Havaianas flip flops. Though $28 for rubber slippers makes this one a splurge in my book.

bag lust

Monday, July 12th, 2010

This summery straw tote from the Wanderlust collection at Madewell is as eco-conscious as it is stylish. Woven from sustainable Cambodian water hyacinth, each handmade bag directly supports the local artisans who create them.
