That’s a funny phrase, life’s a picnic. It sounds cheery, but picnics aren’t always great. Lots of planning, prep, and packing involved. Sticky fingers. Dirt. Bugs. Maybe a sunburn. Always a chance of rain. So I guess all you can do is hope for the best, invest in a stylish grill, and bring along an umbrella.
I know, I know. I live in San Francisco. Where summers are freezing. And people do not have pools in their yards. But this week is all about dreaming of the perfect Mother’s Day. And my perfect day involves a lot of uninterrupted floating in a very stylish pool.
This breezy little ikat dress has given me such a hankering for summer. I’ve never been more ready for floppy hats and sun-kissed shoulders.
Some people shop for Christmas decorations in January… I buy outdoor furniture in late August. In San Francisco, our summer doesn’t even start until September, so I’m going to score some bamboo plates on sale and be ready to picnic all through fall.
It’s the perfect time of year for my favorite combo: sundresses and bulky sweaters. No need to hang up this little black number when the nights get cooler. Just add some boots and bundle up.
