bug out

Wednesday, September 15th, 2010

While we’re on the subject of limited edition designer collections, the John Derian home decor line for Target is another one to snap up while you still can. The New York–based decoupage artist has applied his signature curiosity-cabinet style to affordable housewares, like these melamine insect appetizer plates.

flat out deal

Thursday, January 7th, 2010

target-mossimo-odell-pewter-ballet-flatsRound-toed, pewter flats are a staple in my closet: in the winter (or what constitutes winter in Florida), they go with skinny or wide-legged jeans; in the summer, they look cute with short, full skirts. Thing is, flats in this particular color and style are particularly hard to find–they’re either too shiny, too cheap-looking, or too gold. I’ve tried every brand known to human kind, and my conclusion is that arch support is negligible (and easily fixable with inserts), so inexpensive pairs are just as good as pricey ones.

So go, go, go and buy these Mossimo faux-leather ballet flats, before they disappear. They’re decently comfy, especially with new insoles, cut so that even big feet (ahem) look small, and a perfectly golden shade of silver. (What? Strange, I know.) At $12.99, they’re a steal, even if you do have to spend a few extra dollars to beef up the instep.

white on tight

Monday, September 7th, 2009

target-white-canister-set-with-bamboo-lidsI picked up these canisters at Target last week (on clearance; strange that the website doesn’t list them as such), and the pitiful photo included here does not do them justice.  Sweet bamboo tops and spoons, airtight lids:  perfect for prettying up your sugar, coffee, and tea storage.
