Happy Valentine’s Day! Without a doubt, my wedding day was the most romantic day of my life. I wore pink. Every now and then I look at the photos and wish I had worn a proper “wedding dress,” but the satin Ralph Lauren gown I bought on sale, three sizes too big, five days before the event… well, it was gorgeous.
Alright, alright, you’re broke. Or maybe your leading lady really does *just* want chocolate for Valentine’s Day. But for crying out loud, skip the Hershey’s Kisses and at least woo her with Italian chocolates. And I suppose if you read to her–out loud–the love message written inside–in one of the foreign languages listed–you might even be forgiven for being cheap.
I guess I’m a sucker for old-fashioned romance, because I melted when I saw this personalized stump ring. It reminds me of young love on a breezy summer’s day, carving initials into an old oak tree in a meadow… which is so far from my present reality (the daily grind of family life in the city) that it makes me laugh at my own corny nostalgia. Oh well, at least a girl can dream.
I know the rest of the country has been slammed with endless winter storms, so apologies in advance for gloating. But February in San Francisco is ah-mazing! It’s been in the 70’s, and last weekend we went to the beach… in shorts. Which made me really wish we had a grill, because while summer is freezing and foggy here, Valentine’s Day is the perfect excuse for a sunny backyard BBQ for two.
