blaze on

Monday, August 2nd, 2010

I’ve always wanted to rock the boyfriend look, but have never been able to pull off blazers without feeling totally boxy. With a super slim, feminine cut in soft brushed wool, this Midnight Blazer by Madewell may finally (finally!) make it work.

from our friends at TheFind: parkhaus chicken egg cozy

Monday, February 1st, 2010

From our friends at TheFind:

I’ve recently found lots of cool felt items from a German company called Parkhaus Berlin. They create and design modern home accessories in their Berlin studios. The collection includes cushions for design classic chairs, felt accessories and lighting.

This chicken egg cozy is one of my faves. I love bright colors like orange for my kitchen. Orange plays nicely in a modern kitchen against white, dark browns or various shades of greens, blues and even pairs well with magenta. Think Marimekko! The simplicity is wonderful as well. The ideal breakfast time accessory for friendly modernists!

All of Parkhaus’ products are made of 100% all-natural wool felt and are made in Germany. This cozy goes for $15 at Greenergrassdesign.com.

an itch i need to scratch

Thursday, February 26th, 2009

wool-felt-rainbow-bird-necklaceNormally on Thursdays  I post a big “shopping the sale” roundup, but today, I’m just too damn itchy.  Thankfully, I’ve recently nailed down the cause of my epidermal discontent:  I’m allergic to several substances, which include–le sigh–nickel.  Which means that jewelry, at least in its metal formulations, is off limits, at least for now.  So because I love the stuff (jewelry, not allergies), I’ll keep on finding and posting it, as I live vicariously through you non-sensitive skin types.  For now, here’s a gorgeous synthetic wool necklace that will inaugurate my season of living non-metallically.
